Why I Want Designated Outdoor ‘Non Smoking’ Areas!

Why I Want Designated Outdoor ‘Non Smoking’ Areas! As a non smoker I wholeheartedly agree with the indoor smoking ban; I used to hate going out for a night out and coming home smelling of smoke, or going out for dinner and not being able to enjoy my meal because I was smelling smoke from the next table.

On announcement of the smoking ban I was very happy, but now just a few later there’s another little niggle; as a consequence of the smoking ban people obviously now have to smoke outside.  This means that every time I go to a restaurant with a lovely outdoor area, I avoid sitting in it because it is usually covered with a cloud of smoke! Bringing smoking outdoors has very much made every outdoor area a natural ‘smoking area’.

What I would like to see is for pubs and restaurants etc to designate special outdoor ‘non smoking areas’ so that I can enjoy outdoor dining with my family without being besieged by the smell of smoke!

That’s it, it’s off my chest now, rant over! I can only hope that business owners take my comments on board! If you agree then please share to put pressure owners to deliver designated outdoor smoking areas in time for next summer 🙂

I concur! I was pleasantly surprised to find a beer garden that had done just that! Smoking is the choice of that particular individual, but it isn’t my choice.

I agree! Sometimes the only outdoor space is right outside, so you have to walk through the cloud! Then, every time someone else comes through the door, the smell follows them in.

I totally agree with you. I was very happy when they banned smoking indoors. As a child, my father smoked so when we’d go out for food we would sit in the smoking area I can still remember how awful it was for myself I’ve never liked smoking. Now, as you say, you can’t sit outside and enjoy it in most places because of the cloud of smoke lingering around. Thanks for sharing x
