Estival El Dorado Hotel Cambrils Private Beach

Estival El Dorado Hotel Resort Review

We visited the Estival El Dorado Resort in Cambrils in June. Cambrils is a coastal town in the Costa Dorada region of Catalonia/Spain. We flew from London Stansted to Barcelona Reus airport with Jet2Holidays. The break cost just under £2,200 All Inclusive for two adults and 1 child for 10 nights in a junior suite at Estival El Dorado Resort.

Estival El Dorado is a beachfront resort set in a quiet location. There are a couple of small shops and a mini supermarket directly opposite the front entrance of the hotel. The hotel is 2km from Cambrils. The marina in Cambrils is a very pretty harbour and is lined by many bars and restaurants. For those looking for lively nightlife or day trips Salou is approximately 20 minutes away. Salou is home to the Port Aventura Theme Park and Port Aventura Caribe Aquatic Park.

Estival El Dorado Resort

Estival El Dorado Resort itself is beautiful. We knew from the moment we arrived that we were all going to love it. The hotel is very clean and quiet and there was no need to get up and by the pool early to reserve sun beds! We moved freely between the big pool, the paddling pool and the splash park the whole time we were there and sunbeds were always available at each location.

The Pools

The Estival El Dorado Resort pools are amazing for children and adults alike. There are 3 pools over the hotel side and then over the villa side there is a splash park and another pool. The two sides are split by a little bridge by the sea. You need an entrance card to get from one side to the other – this is provided free to guests but it does make sure that non guests can’t get in and use the facilities which is great. On the villa side there is a splash park which our 4 year old loved and a huge family pool which had a small (very small) lazy river and daytime activities from fun floats to aqua aerobics. On the hotel side there is a large family pool, a small paddling pool and a very relaxing adult only pool! The family pool and adult only pool had a few cabanas too (free to use, but you would need to get up early or use them later in the afternoon/early evening).

Estival El Dorado Resort Activities

Estival El Dorado Resort had plenty of activities. Mike enjoyed Beach Volleyball, Pétanque and a massage in the spa. Lily loved the mini club and mini disco and I was pregnant at the time so most of the activities passed me by! I didn’t feel comfortable leaving Lily on her own in the mini club as I had seen staff leave the open on occasion so I did used to accompany her. The mini club was air conditioned which made it a lovely place to cool off! The evening entertainment was varied and included live music acts, dance acts and some audience participation shows which we all enjoyed and got on stage to get involved with. We made a lot of friends at the resort and we are still in touch with them – we have even met up with some of them since arriving home.

Estival ElDorado Resort had plenty of dining options and as all inclusive guests food was available most of the day and evening. We used to have breakfast in the main restaurant as it had stunning sea views and an outside patio area with tables so we could dine directly overlooking the sea – sometimes in the evening it was too windy to sit outside but inside by the floor to ceiling window still had the same stunning backdrop. In the daytime we would often eat lunch at splash park cafe and grab a branded (paid for) ice cream and sit eating it overlooking the sea. At dinner time we head into the main restaurant. There were plenty of options for adults and for kids Pizza, chips and Spaghetti featured on the menu daily so we never ever struggled finding something that Lily would like to eat! We had the option to visit the A La Carte Dining once during our stay for free but we never took it up as we loved the selection and choice of food in the buffet restaurant and the views were amazing so we didn’t feel the need to use the A La Carte.

Estival El Dorado Resort Hotel Junior Suite Room

We booked a junior suite at the Estival El Dorado Resort and we were so pleased with the room it was huge, very modern bright and airy and it had the best air conditioning I’ve experienced everywhere – it was really quiet and made the room so cold if you set it to a low temperature. We had a lovely view over the hotel gardens and a large balcony. The room was very quiet.

We booked with Jet2Holidays for the second year running and would without hesitation use them again. The staff were very friendly and they seemed to have staff everywhere at the airport pointing you in the direction of baggage reclaim and the shuttle busses etc. The resort rep was lovely too – we spoke to her about increasing the length of our stay but unfortunately the hotel had limited availability so it was too much of a price hike for us. The cabin crew were really friendly and even asked the pilot if Lily could sit in the cockpit!

We has the most amazing family holiday at Estival El Dorado Resort Hotel and we will definitely go again soon.
